Think I'm out of my depth!

Think I've bitten off more than I can chew on this one . I thought I would try the Postcard Challenge(button on left of blog) but what with Mr Mojo still on vacation and total lack of any imagination whatsoever  I think this might be my only postcard !  I thought about what I knew about Austria(visited the Tyrol once lots of years ago), my first thought was of the amazing scenery(and my first ever scary trip on a cable car),my next thought was of Julie Andrews dancing across the meadows and that then led me on Johann Strauss ,viennese waltzes etc  so my PC became a collage of these things.
Then to the charactors ,this is the really hard bit for me as I don't seem to have a "fantasy gene" . My first charactor is Elsie Jones, who is a Variety Show Artiste and her admirer, Edward who is a classical musical artiste, I have absolutely no idea what is going to happen to the two of them !

  1. Hello, sorry I don't know you yet, you seem a tad pessimistic for someone who has put together a lovely picture, has 2 characters and their first completed back. Please don't give up, we will never find out what happens and we are all here in between posts if you need some encouragement, help or to bat ideas about :)

  2. Yay Joan, you have done better than me. I started to prepare last week, but still haven't got to this weeks postcard or even thought about characters yet. I think it's great that the story will unfold as you think of things at the time, that's what makes it exciting. Please don't give up. I want to know what happens to your characters.
    luv and hugs {brenda} xoxox

  3. This is a great card, the collage is wonderful, perfect images and well balanced. You dont need to have a fantasy story, so many people are doing 'mysteries' it would be nice to have some cards with just regular chatty conversations on them. please do come back next week.

if you are ever unsure join the facebook group and put your ideas out there to get feedback.

So far today we have had painting, sketching, stamping, collaging, digital images..all sorts, and that is how it should be. You are not going to be compared with anyone else, just do what you love.

  4. I want to know more about the variety show artiste - what a great reason to travel. A very colorful character, I'm sure, catching the eye of a classical man. Please do continue. I love collage (bits and pieces of the country's culture). We are going to learn so much this year.

  6. Your postcard art and story line is wonderful! I'll hope you will continue on - we're all anxious to see what Edward hears back! The characters and writing "the story" is the hardest part for me too.

  8. I do not have my story all planned out. I have two characters. One has written one has not. They live worlds apart. I am learning about them as we go. You have two characters. You have the start of a storyline. You have a wonderful collage postcard for your first instalment. you have readers waiting to see what happens. Not only do we want to peak into the characters correspondence be it exciting or mundane, we want to see your art. Each of us brings different things to this challenge and that makes it fun. Please don't give up.

  11. Joan...your characters are marvellous..the idea of the story is just to go with the flow, be inspired by the countries they visit. You don't have to be as anal as me and have a whole story in your head fighting to get out lol. All you need to know is..are they going to get together in the end? The rest is their adventures in the meantime. The suspense of the story for your readers is that we don't know :D XXX

  13. That's the best bit of stories - you don't know what's going to happen. Just sit at your keyboard and write... the words will come - honest!

Remember... Climb every mountain, ford every stream, follow every by-way til you find your dream!!!

  18. I think most of us are in the same boat, not knowing exactly where this is going! I think that leap of faith is what will get us creating and posting most weeks. Think how great it will be to look back at the end of the year and see what you accomplished.
By the way, I think you are off to a smashing start!
