This week at cardz4guyz our challenge is for something beginning with the letter S. I wanted to do something a little different as my first thoughts had been ships, sails, seaside etc , I love anything nautical, maritime in fact anything to do with the sea, don't know why as we have always lived inland. Anyhow I had just got these silhouette stamps from Inkylicious and hadn't had a play with them so out came the ink dusters and memento ink pads for a scenic sunset . My first attempt was a lot better sunset and then I messed up stamping the boat so had to start over again. I definitely need lots more practise at this , my moon has a partial eclipse ! but on the whole I'm reasonable happy with it. Hope you will join in our challenge with a masculine card .
Like a lot of people I'm so frustrated that I can't get hold of the Crazy Bird stamps! today a very kind friend has lent me the Dina Wakley scribbly birds to play with and what do I do ? make a a Christmas card, this is my third Christmas card this year , not keeping my resolution to make one a week let alone one a month, after I'd coloured and cut out the bird I had a rummage around in a box full of odds and ends left over from last years Christmas card making frenzy and found the embossed background and the die cut holly, the merry Christmas was also already stamped on a bit of scrap card. Tomorrow, hopefully I will be a bit more adventurous with the stamps.I would like to enter this into
Don't quite know why this has such a greeny tinge but it is on a white card base! Bloom With Hope Flower stamped over Work of Art Stamp using momento inks , Dandelion and New Sprout. Added a bit of extra colour to the flower with charisma pencils. I love these Bloom with hope flowers ,can't stop playing with this set !
I was already playing with the Bloom With Hope flower that Chrissie has used, I've used different colours and moved the sentiment to the bottom of the card, also used a side opening card which is deckle edged too.
This weeks challenge at Cardz4guyz is Transport. The bus stamp I have used came in a set with veteran cars, I have used the car images over and over again but the bus has remained uninked up to now and I was pleased at how well it stamped, the quote is a Kaisercraft stamp which I thought was quite appropriate . The DP is from a set of very ancient craftword cards papers, well we do have to try and use up some of this old stuff don't we ! We'd love to see your entries at Cardsz4guyz, remember they do have to be suitable for a male on any age.
The current mid month challenge at Stamping Sensations is to choose five favourite stamps and show something using some of them. This month its my turn ! Please pop along to the challenge site and have a look. I have not made these especially for this challenge but have chosen them from previous projects. My first choice is an Inkylicious quote
Live Your Life
A Penny Black Stamp - scented message
Stampendous - Ranunculus
Tim Holtz - Papillon
and last but not least
Stampin Up - Gorgeous Grunge
There is still time to enter this months challenge over at Stamping Sensations , great prize to be won, the current challenge is One For The Guys
This is my design team card for Cardz4guyz this week where the challenge is Clean and Simple. I've recently been playing about with hexagon shaped cards after I got the die set and the stamps are from Stampin Up set, moon lake, which is another recent acquisition , very simply coloured with charisma pencils and finished off with the oh so useful Inkylicious birds !
I recently managed to get the Stampin Up Moon Lake set, I love this little scene of the boat, I've combined it with the wading birds from Wetlands set and the always useful flying birds from Inkylicious. I thought I would enter this into Make My Monday challenge this week
I've been trying to use some of the free stamps etc that I have got with magazines and just end being tossed on the pile of unused stuff on the corner of my table! At first glance I was not too impressed with this embossing folder but having tried it out I found I really liked it, the little flower stamp and the sentiment were in the same set, only added extra is the three sequins in the top corner. The Paper Players challenge seemed appropriate for this card so I'm entering it there
While I was trying to tidy up some of my craft stuff this afternoon I came across a couple of these car images already stamped, as soon as I saw them I thought about the Male Room challenge sketch which I had seen earlier on. Found the stamp cube (B Line designs) and stamped a third car, bit of colouring with copics, stamped the background paper with Stampin up gorgeous grunge stamps, love those stamps they make fantastic backgrounds! the sentiment is from Stampin Up Work of Art set.
The challenge at cardz4guyz this week is Men's Hobbies, lots of scope there then ! When I'm doing design team cards I do try to make something that I will be able to use sooner or later for someone in the family or friends. No one in our family is remotely sporty, apart from one Grandson who plays
golf and I've just about run out of golf ideas, our lot are more into renovating tractors etc. Moving away from sports I was thinking about things like motor sport, trial bike riding etc ,climbing, walking etc, no inspiration , then searching through a box of stamps I found this Kaisercraft stamp and eureka moment! photography is a hobby too and my brother is a keen photographer. Papers and main image are from my Graphic45 scrap box.
I've had this Stampendous stamp for a few years but not really done much with it, at the moment I've been playing about with the old technique of stamping with an acrylic block, never get two backgrounds the same. This made for a very simple card, just added touched of colour to the daffodils and matted onto green and yellow card. I had meant this to be an Easter card but can't find my Easter stamp! As to my post title, well what can I say ? Saturday beautiful day , lots of washing dried outside, some tidying up in the garden, tried to clean the windows (not a success!) Yesterday, back to biting cold wind, frost last night and today , windy, cold and bucket loads of rain! Lots of challenges about for Spring so entering a few of them
Dug out this old Stamp It stamp for the Flonzcraft vintage stamping challenge which is "Olde Worlde", I think this pretty lady is Edwardian so hope she is olde worlde enough. I don't know why but I have never coloured her in anything but lilac and green so here she is all dressed up again in the same old colours. I made the background with distress inks, three different shades, the I tried stamping a large lace stamp with water, didn't work too well so I then overstamped the lace stamp again with dusty concord and also bits of French writing , didn't want to cover it up too much so just added the bits of lace and ribbon and a couple of pins.
A just for the sake of it card, got this stamp at Christmas and while I love it I haven't really done anything with it. While I was playing with colouring with karisma pencils I had a go at colouring her, love her attitude and style !

Spent all day yesterday fighting with my new all in one PSC, ended up having to call Hewlett Packard help, very helpful young man who spent a lot of time trying to sort it all, transpires the fault lies with my computer, several drivers (whatever they are!) have been disabled in other words my security has disabled them because someone has tried to hack my computer, I knew several features were not working but didn't know why, now its a case of getting someone to sort in all out. New printer does work from my laptop but all my files are on my desktop. Anyhow I've ended up reconnecting my old scanner to scan this as I'm beyond trying anything else new right now.
Used my PennyBlack Botanical notes for this card , coloured with my rediscovered Karisma pencils, I'd forgotten how much I loved them. Few freebie papers from my stash and a bit of ribbon. I'd like to enter my card in the following challenges
Fantasy Stampers - Mums the word - the challenge is for Mothers Day, its 35 years since I lost my lovely Mum, I think she would have loved a card like this
This week at Stamping Sensations the challenge is One For The Guys. There is a fab prize of £35 to spend in Foilplay Store so get busy and enter your card.
I have used some of my favourite stamps on this card, the background stamp is a cover a card stamp by Impression Obsession, the balloon and compass are Indigo Blu and the wording is from Justrite stamps, all coloured with distress inks and the top panel has gilding flakes over the text and on the edges .Ages since I used gilding flakes but now I've dug them out I'll be using them again.
