Its black and white

Made this black and white card for Crafty Card Makers And More Challenge. I love black and white cards, quick and easy but very striking.  Used this  B Line stamp that a friend bought me in 2007 as a cheer up gift when I had just been diagnosed with cancer, it has been well and truly used and I still love it.
This afternoon I finally got around to playing with my gelli plate which has been languishing unused and unloved in a drawer, didn't produce anything wonderful but some pieces will be used no doubt. One good thing also came out of it in that while watching you tube videos I noticed one lady was using the back of 12x12 scrapbook papers, Now I have been wondering whatever I was going to do with my humungous stash of papers now I know! already cut a bunch of them in 6x6 pieces and used some of them, when I look at some of the papers I have I do wonder what I was thinking when I bought them!

I Love Paris

Well I should have been getting on with making some birthday cards but instead I've been fiddlefaddling about with this card.  Saw a colour challenge on The Card Concept and have tried to use their colours of Espresso(base card is stampin up espresso which looks black on here) main image is stamped on vanilla cardstock, pink bits and pieces and the rose. I haven't used any Kraft but  hope the colours on the patterned paper will count for that. The stamp is another Inkilicious I got last September and hadn't used before, the papers are from Papermania Madame Payraud and the Eiffel tower is a die cut from a friend.

Cardz4guyz

Need to get cracking on some birthday cards, we have a lot of birthdays in the first three months of the year and most of them are for the males. This one is for one of our Grandsons. I do enjoy making men's cards but I have been making cards for them for over 20 years and sometimes I struggle to do something I haven't done before! I have lots of male orientated stamps but nothing sprung to mind this time. The car is an image from Dover publications and the papers are some old Graphic45. Now I have to start on a card for a great grandson who is sixteen next week and I don't have a clue  . I'm entering this on Caz's new challenge , hopefully this challenge will give us lots of inspiration for male cards.

Blue

Just pottering about ,still not making cards for anything in particular, made this the other night using one of the Inkilicious collage stamps I got at GNP last September, think I might have used it once before but I'm on a mission to try and use my stamps more. I went to GNP and Port Sunlight with a week of each other and of course I ended up with so much new stash all at once it didn't all get used before I got stuck into the Christmas card making frenzy ! Very simple card but I do love nautical stuff and it didn't seem to need much embellishment.

Polka dots

Quite a change of style with this card, Stampin Up Polka Dot Pieces stamps were another of my Christmas presents, I already had the bird punch and the scallop punch so was well set up with this set. Used a craft concepts embossing folder on the background and a piece of very old papermania paper. I haven't put a sentiment on yet ,will add one when I decide where the card is going! See there are a few monochrome challenges at the moment so here goes

chocolate and cream

I was lucky enough to receive Tim Holtz French industrial paper pad for Christmas, having spent ages admiring it and stroking the pages I managed to force myself to actually cut up one page to make this card, I'd just got the Joycraft stamp as well so it's all new stash. The hessian(burlap?) flowers are cut from a roll of the stuff I've had for years, don't know what it was meant for, it has quite a firm paper backing, took it off one flower and it started to fray so left it on the other one, the buttons are for the raspberry bit of Fashionable Stamping Challenge which is Chocolate, cream and raspberry. Lavender and Lace

Finally got back to my poor neglected blog.  I've done very little since Christmas which I feel quite ashamed about as I got lots of lovely crafty goodies for Christmas plus all the extra bits that sort of fell into my baskets while I was shopping online for Christmas presents for friends, sure you've all had the same thing happen to you!  all that's been missing is Mr Mojo so in the end I just thought well I'll have to manage without him.

I was happy to have been chosen in the top three for October and delighted to be asked to do another guest designer spot. For this challenge, Natural World, I chose to make an 8x8 hanging, the twist was to add a flower. There are more details on the crafts4u2 do challenge site.

Still have a bit of shopping to do but cards all finished ,written and posted, tree and decorations up and still over a week to go, now it's what have I forgotten ?

Frosty village

I've tried to keep things simple this year as I'm inclined to get carried away and pile on more and more, as I was also trying to keep my cards flat to avoid extra postage I was quite conscious of what I was adding, I do quite like the simplicity of this card, the joycraft papers are so pretty and make lovely backgrounds. The stamp is Hobby Art, bought last year and didn't get used and a spellbinders die.

Back again

Hopefully this is the last batch of Christmas cards for this year ! I've been struggling to get them done what with total lack of inspiration and also the rheumatoid arthritis has been playing up and my hands have been quite painful again, enough of that though, today I've written most of my cards ,just the hand delivery ones to do, I've made a conscious effort this year to keep the cards flat enough so I don't have to pay extra postage!   This card is made mostly with Craftwork Cards papers which I have used a lot of this year, love them, stamp is Stampendous and poinsettia is spellbinders

another white on white

I thought this was going to be a quick post but it has taken longer to try and get a picture of the card thank it did to make it and it still doesn't show detail very well. I did manage to keep it clean even though I had been doing some messy stuff right before.

The Big Guy

Well I wasted last night and most of this afternoon playing about with stencils and embossing pastes, what I discovered was 1) it's not as easy as it looks and 2) one make of embossing paste takes on colour from the colour card is on as it dries, as I wanted sparkly white a sort of bluey/green wasn't quite what I was looking for, the winner by a long chalk was the Poppy Stencil glossy white, scattered glamour dust on it while it was wet and got just the effect I wanted, now I just need to work out some kind of card design! Got fed up of trying so decided to do something else , haven't used  my stampendous Santa this year so giving him an airing or rather think he's in a frantage blizzard, this is the kind of card I like making so it came together fairly quickly except I tried talking on the phone at the same time and spilt frantage ep everywhere!

Wintry Snowbird

Here he is again, this little bird just makes me smile when I stamp it, so fluffy and cute ! Used up some DP that I think was a freebie from a magazine, doily, die cut music and snowflakes, enjoyed making this one ,the only thing I had a problem with was putting snow on the branches and berries, I had a tube of some snow stuff but it had dried up, tried frantage but was impossible to keep it in place, after much rooting about finally found a pot of flock, goodness knows how old that is which is maybe why it hasn't worked too well, looked ok when I did it but when the glue dried it seemed to have absorbed the flock, gave it another layer but its still not the effect I wanted, must find something else to use.

Flittered

Struggled to get a decent scan of this card , the gold snowflakes looked black and I have had to mess about with the tone to get anything like the colours, did try a photo but that was even worse.  Doing a last minute entry into Fashionable Stamping's challenge not to use ink to stamp with.  The baubles are stamped with flitterglu and flakes, I've finally mastered using it after being given a personal demo by Kay at Port Sunlight. I have used ink to stamp the sentiment but think I can get away with that?

Snowbird

I had lusted after this little bird stamp last year but resisted it but have given in this year and got it, I think its a Chickadee really but it makes a nice fluffy Robin too.  The DPs are Joycraft except for the music, I seem to have a theme going for bits of torn music paper this year.
