Sew Stylish

Tag You're It challenge this week asked for a tag in a pocket. The library pocket is made from G45 papers and some bits from their tags. The tag background is the very last little piece I had of a basic grey paper that I have had for ages, it was one of those pieces that you don't want to cut up, now its all gone (sob) The girls are  Hero Arts, I have also used up some very old rub ons as background on the tags, the Sew Stylish is also a Hero Stamp. I like anything to do with sewing and fashion for crafts but not in real life ! I don't sew much anymore, only when forced to and as for fashion , sweatshirts and joggers are my usual attire these days.

Deck The Halls

Why is that I never notice that things are not straight until I load them on my blog ?  I,m not really into making Christmas cards yet but just had a fancy to make A Deck The Halls card for Winter Wonderland. The scanner has also changed some of the colours on the baubles but I have to shift everything to take photos so scan will have to do ! Background holly stamp is Hero, baubles are Kanban and swirly ivy is Dovecraft.

Autumn leaves

An autumn card for Tuesday Taggers challenge. DP is Graphic 45 botanical, wheat stamp is Hero Arts and the leaf is a freeby stamp I got from Crafty Individuals ages ago, all coloured with distress inks. Quote is computer generated and found on t'internet .The Craft Barn is this weeks sponsor.

altered cigar box

This is an old cigar box my husband brought in from the garage and asked if I wanted, have to say I had already scrubbed it before I took the "before" photo as it had been full of oily old nuts and bolts from his tractor. I have spent a lovely afternoon altering it, first painted in with red acrylic paint, then rubbed on some black acrylic paint with a babywipe. Added some smears of texture paste and some crackling stuff -croco transparent, then I daubed some gold paint on just with my fingers, heated the whole lot with a heat gun so it bubbled and cracked. The centre panel is made with base of a tinfoil dish that had contained Asda fresh tastes chicken and leek, well scrubbed of course, embossed in the cuttlebug with an embossing folder which I can't remember who's make it is,then coloured with alcohol inks, toned down a bit with rub on gold and black. Hinges are grungepaper coloured with alcohol inks and also done with the rub on stuff. the corners and centre bit are actually paper and from a 99p embellishment pack at The Works, also alcohol inked and rub and buffed (just remember that is what the rub on stuff is called )managed to make holes through the wood for the brads with my ancient "prodder" thing . It is very textural which doesn't really show up very well, I did try to take a close up of it to show that but the gold paint and metal just reflect the light. Its too gloomy and miserable outside even in the afternoon to even attempt to take photos outside today.  My sister in California called me last night and said they had temperature of 111degrees at the weekend ! that is just too hot for comfort but I wish we could get a bit of sunshine to cheer things up here. It has not photographed very well but I am quite pleased with how it turned out. Nearly forgot to say this is for the Stampman challenge which is "altered". Just seen that Lots to Do challenge is also for altered so am putting it on there too.

Bird arch

Oh I,m having trouble with my blog tonight ! I keep getting security certificate warnings and I've no idea what its all about ? anyone else having problems ?  Anyhow finally managed to upload my bird arch for something different challenge. Now I have never done an arch before and I have no idea if they are supposed to be a certain size so I have just gone ahead and cut one out and hope its ok. The bird cage and birds are from Kanban and the wording is Paperartsy, used other little stamps for the layered stamping and of course distress inks to colour the tag. Had a nice messy evening making this

Blue/coffee/cream

A tag for the Tag You're it challenge which is colours this week, Blue/coffee/cream as near as I could see. On my tag I've stamped the dandelions in versafine and clear embossed them, coloured the tag with shattered glass distress ink and then ironed the embossing off , it was cream card underneath but its ended up with the dandelions looking yellow. The stamped flower at the top is the same as the base card and its how I expected the dandelions to look !  overstamped the other grasses etc with chipped saphire DI, the quote is from a Stampman set which I bought mainly for the sentiments.

fancy folds

Had my friend, Babs, over today and we played about making fancy fold cards which I had seen over on Manic Stampers blog. I'm putting this on Lets Ink It Up challenge which is to use a favourite stamp with a twist and add a charm. I can never choose a favourite stamp as the one I,m using at the time is always my favourite. This is one by Kanban, the charm is the ribbon sat on her back, bit of ribbon on the strip across the bottom and (Say in very quietly !) peel off stars on the side panels. I should have cropped this photo before posting it but I forgot to do it and have not go the patience to take it off and start again.

Banners

Tag Tuesday challenge this week is to use banners , I got engrossed in making my tag and forgot I was supposed to be using them . I know we are past the season for seaside but these are some new stamps I got at the show last week and I couldn't wait to use them. Stamped and masked the bathing belle and then the background. I love the beach huts , whenever we see any at the coast I have to photograph them, its all the different colours I think that draw me to them. The stamps are from Crafty Individuals.background coloured with Distress inks, details with water colour pencils.

Vintage ?

Tag Tuesday is "it takes allsorts" week which I was quite happy about as I just feel like playing about at the moments, giving my brain a rest from pondering over what to do for challenges. Having said that I have done this card and almost finished a tag for another challenge tonight. This little girl was stamped and coloured a while ago and has been patiently waiting to be made into a card. I have tried to go for a sort of vintagey school days effect but don't don't know if I've really done that, however I am quite happy with it and enjoyed making it which is the main thing ! The stamp is a Papermania Nostalgia one, wording is an old Hero Arts. The challenge this week is sponsered by http://www.ribbonoasis.co.uk/

Back again

Back again after our little break in Shropshire, stayed in a very nice pub just outside Bridgenorth, lovely rooms and the food was excellent. Then it was home again and down to earth with a bump, all washing and ironing and having to cook our own meals , roll on the next break. This afternoon I have managed to make some fairly simple atcs for the Stampman swap  which this month is for "The Look"  Although they did suggest using the free stamp which came with the Craft Stamper I decided I would use this Inkadinkado Mood Du Jour stamp which really needs nothing else doing with it. Stamped on ink sprayed paper, bit of swirly paper at the bottom, prima stud and computer generated words.

Tag Tuesday Butterflies

Tag Tuesday challenge is for butterflies, even though it is a two week challenge this time I hadn't got round to making anything. The butterflies on here are Elusive Image stamps, background Hero Arts, wording computer generated. Quite a simple tag made with bits and pieces from my stack of background papers. On reflection it would have been better with some nicer flowers !  Won't be around much for the next week, tomorrow will be at the Northern Papercraft show (yeah ! ) Sunday the O.H want to go to a Steam Fair at Hunton ( more rusty old tool stalls to look at ) and then we are away to Shropshire for the rest of the week, booked into a country pub which looks very nice so just hope it lives up to the pictures !

Vintage tag

Finally got to make a tag for Lets Ink It Up, the challenge is for a vintage tag or bookmark. The stamp is Hampton Art and is a favourite of mine. I got a bit black thumbprint on the corner just as I was about to scan it so have had to arrange the ribbon to try and cover it !  I,m totally exhausted tonight, had a real blitz on the housework today which went very well until I started trying to tidy up my craft stuff . My big cupboard is very tidy but the rest of the room is still a total shambles ! too much stuff, too little space. Don't know why I am going to the Northern Papercraft show on Saturday as I need more stuff like I need a hole in the head and I just know I will get so carried away when I see all the lovely goodies !

70th Wedding Anniversary!

This does not show up very well as the colours as so pale, the papers are actually a very pale pink although they look grey on here !   I was asked to make this for someone. I'm not very good  at doing wedding/anniversary type cards but I was quite pleased at how this came out, just a shame the scan is so lousy !  can't do a photo as the card has gone.  Can you imagine being married for 70 years ? don't think there will be many people who get to that anniversary.

Autumn Gold

The challenge on Tag you're it  September swap is for Autumn Gold. My tag was sprayed with Adirondack colour washes, Butterscotch, Lettuce and Cranberry. Tree stamp is Crafty Individuals and leaves are from a Habico set.  I did bleach out the leaves a bit as they didn't show up much against the background but it doesn't show up much on here.Found the wording on Google. As Theme Thursday challenge is for Autumn I am entering it on there too.  Very busy at the moment and not managing to get so many challenges done.

Butterfly girl

A 4x4 for Theme Thursday ,the challenge this week is for square art. I,m a bit late as usual, I don't seem to be getting much done at the moment, think I spend too much time looking at other peoples blogs ! The background stamp and main stamp are Crafty Individuals, butterfly and flower are ISC.

Hedgerow Tractor !

A card for my Brothers birthday. One of his hobbies is renovating old tractors so I tried to find a picture of a very decrepit looking one, think this one would be too much of a challenge even for him.!  The papers are Graphic 45 steampunk. The old fibre gasket I found in the garage and embossed it with copper and verdigris as I did with the washers. Had to use a peel off for the birthday greeting as I could not find a stamp to go in the space .  It must be a year since I started my blog as my very post was a card for his birthday. I spelt the title as My Bothers birthday and did not know how to correct it !

Music

I think this is one of those cards I should have given up on , I had an idea in my head but it did not want to transfer to paper ! even when I thought I had finished it at last, when I scanned it the frame looked so crooked I had to dismantle the card and put it together again. Anyhow its my card for The Stampman Music challenge.  The stamp is an old Inkadinkado one and the sentiment is from Butterfly Kisses. Music paper is wrapping paper and piano keys  paper from scrap box.

Dapper Man atc

An atc for Lets ink it up challenge which is a touch of yellow.Just bits and pieces that were laying around after I made a collage. Images are from The Graphic Fairy. The yellow is part of the base card which is painted with acrylic paint and then sprayed with some glimmer ( I usually mix my own glimmers with distress ink re inkers and Art From The Heart pearl pigments)

Duh !  I just went to put this on the challenge and realised that I should have used a stamped image ! oh well will just leave it on here for now and try and get something else done ! I don't know how to remove the link so will just have to leave it in.
