Goodbye

  1. I was sorry to see that ReadySteadyStamp are not doing anymore challenges. I have really enjoyed doing them as I found they really made me think in order to incorporate enough of the ingredients, some of them very strange at times !   My card has several of the ingredients 1. heart shape, 2. lace. 3. light blue/beige/white&cream. 4. pearls. 5. flowers. 6. pearlised effect(on the banner and butterflys) 7.banner. 8. butterflys.  The heart stamp is an old Inca one, embossed in white. It has been interesting digging out old stamps and finding different ways to use them. When I first started stamping everything was stamped and embossed usually in gold or silver straight onto a card blank, then just coloured in,its amazing that we thought our cards were wonderful back then but I still have not lost that great feeling when you first stamp a new stamp !

At The Seaside

I have been wanting this child on the beach stamp for about two years after someone sent me an atc with it on.  Last Tuesday it arrived in the post, my lovely Sister had found it and sent it to me as a little surprise.
I thought it went perfectly with this little poem from R.L Stevenson. The poem is in a Childs Garden Of Verse book which I got as a Sunday School prize in 1949! as you can image it is now rather battered and worn but I have always loved the book.  I am really digging the old stuff out now, the background stamp at the bottom of the card is from a company called Embossing Arts and dated 1993, wonder if they are still around ? This is a belated entry for Tuesday Taggers challenge.

Angel Kisses

Well just for a change from vintage etc I thought I'd have a go at Penny Black challenge I saw somewhere ( bet I can't find it again !) This stamp is an old Penny Black called called Angel Kisses (860K-1995 !) coloured with copics , the papers are My Minds Eye, flowers and buttons from stash. I did manage to find it , its pennyblackfriendssaturdaychallenge

Scrapbook Tag

When I saw the theme for Louise's challenge on Kardkrazy I was really pleased! I have not done a lot of scrapbooking but what I have done is all with old family photos.  The two people on my tag are my grandparents, Lucy and Edward. The baby in the pram is my Aunt Kathleen. The old postcard was sent by them to my grandmother's grandmother,  Eliza Marwood who brought up my grandmother after her own mother  died. The top photo of them in the car is the front of the postcard, seems it was so easy in those days to get a postcard made with your own photograph on it. The sad thing is that Lucy was dead at the age of 30,leaving 3 little children behind.

Gone With The Wind

As if I have not had enough trouble with my computer tonight now I find that Google have altered how I put things on my blog! This is my tag for Tag You're It Challenge which is The Silver Screen so here are Rhett and Scarlett. I have always loved the book and have read it countless times but I don't think I have ever sat through the film! The top image is from Google and Clark Gable is from Jacque at http://jardimdasborboletas-jacque.blogspot.com/ who has some fabulous vintage images..

The papers are from Crafty Individuals and papermania rose garden.Metal dragonfly coloured with alcohol inks. Stamp is, of course, Aspects of Design which I have had for a long time.

Not on paper ?

Tag Tuesday asked for a tag on something other than paper this week. I tried to think of something clever but couldn't. Decided to use this atc size piece of stampboard, coloured with distress inks, stamps from Elusive Images, quite liked it when it was done.First time I have punched holes through something like this with the cropodile tool and I was surprised how easily it did it.

Messing about in boats

Here's my card for Tuesday Taggers challenge. This week it is "messing about in boats" Used my Artistic Outpost Beyond The Sea stamps for this. Have to say the girl does not look too happy in that little boat, maybe she is feeling sea sick !know I would be.

Tag You're It

The challenge on Tag You're it this week was "No Stamping" I very rarely make anything without some stamping but now and again its nice to do something different.
Now I do have a considerable amount of stickers ! don't ask me why as I very rarely use them, I did have a lot given by a friend who used to have a craft shop but I also had a lot before that. Anyhow this tag background is just a collage of ticket stickers. the three girls are from Graphic 45 boardwalk paper as is the 5c ticket strip down the side. Can you imagine wearing wool bathing costumes ? bet they stretched like anything when they got wet !

Stampman atcs

Managed to get my atcs made for The Stampman atc swap which is Time this month. Paper Artsy and Hero stamps. The atcs are almost the same, just different little photos on each one. the background paper was in my scrapbox, just enough to do the three atcs. The first grungepaper clock I made I tried to ultrathick emboss it but it went so dark couldn't see the clock numerals so had to start again. The little watch parts are just stuck into glossy accents.

Scarborough

Bought this frame at Port Sunlight back in May, think it came from Artistic Stamper?
Painted with white gesso and two shades of blue acrylic. The old postcard view of Scarborough is a download and I'm afraid I can't remember where from. Used distress inks to stamp the shells and sentiments which are from Artistic outpost. The starfish are some I bought a while ago and I did not realise then that they are actually real dried starfish, probably would not have bought them if I had known !the little seahorse is from a paperclay mould. We used to go the Scarborough quite a lot when we were children but I think this scene dates even further back than then .

Crowned ancestor !

Made this tag for Kardkrazy Tag Tuesday challenge (very late I know !) It came out much grungier than I had intended. The main collage stamp has ancestor down the side so I thought I would crown him and have a royal ancestor in my family. The main stamp is from Stamp Attack, the crown and coat of arms is Viva.
