Easter Card

I fell in love with this botanical daffodil stamp as soon as I set eyes on it, I don't seem to have any Easter stamps for some reason so thought it might be appropriate for an Easter card. It had taken me longer to make the circle sentiment on the computer than to make the rest of the card! the first one I made I stamped the flower in the middle and smudged it and being in tidy mode tonight I had put the punch ,the stamp and the ink pad away so had to get them all out again! doesn't pay to be tidy ........
I'm putting this on a few challenges

Back In Time

My First card made using Pan Pastels, love how fast can colour a background! stamped a cover a page stamp with versamark and used Pan violet shade to make the resist background. DP is a piece of Debbie Moore paper from a magazine, The Boot's number seven advert is a Inkilicious stamp I got at the Harrogate show and the flower is memorybox die, also one of my new aquisitions ! Made this for the Random Redhead challenge on Gingersnaps, the theme is go back in time to the last century ,I would think this advert would be about 1940 ish going by the lady's clothing.

Time

Back from Northumberland yesterday after a lovely break, really lucked out with the weather, warm enough to walk on the beach without a coat, blue skies and sunshine !  Its a beautiful county,we love it up there, I have always said if I couldn't live in my lovely Yorkshire I would have to live in Northumberland.  Finally got a little play with some of my new stash and made this card for a family birthday on Monday. The collage stamps are from Designs by TabbyCat and the papers are Debbi Moore's. Somewhere I saw a challenge for "Time" so I'm off to look for it now.

Found the challenge after spending ages getting distracted skipping around various sites !

Family Women

Meandering Book !

Posted by Picasa
This post is in a horrible muddle as I can't get the photos to stay where I put them . Its called a meandering book and thats just what its done, meandered all over the place!  The top photo is the book opened and the third one down is the book closed, I couldn't post it at  all with blogger as it would only let me post one photo.  The lilac in the background is not part of the book, just something I used to take the photos on.  The Gingersnaps Chestnut Challenge theme for Granny's Photo Album gave me the idea for this project. Often in the family tree the woman are not focused on as much as the men as they don't carry on the family name so I thought I would make a little book about them. I am fortunate to have photographs of them all back to my great, great, great Grandmother who was born in 1786, her youngest son was one of the early photographers. I was never lucky enough to know either of my Grandmothers unfortunately. One Grandmother and a Great,Great Grandmother were dressmakers so I like to think thats where my love of  sewing /haberdashery stuff comes from(not that I do any actual sewing these days!)

Buttons and brads

Two posts in one night after a weeks absence !  I have so enjoyed making this card, love all things haberdashery......... I have bought a couple of Debbi Moore's magazines and although there is not a lot of magazine content the papers and the little stamp sets are lovely. Most of this card is made from the papers and stamps with the exception of the dress form which is Girls Paperie and the spotted paper which is out of my scrap box. I'm putting this on a these  challenges

Our Creative Corner           - Tic Tac Toe and the line Brads/buttons/blue

Spring flowers

I made this card a few days ago for a challenge but since then I have been having a bit of trouble with broadband and gave up trying to do anything !Fingers crossed its working again now. Although I missed the challenge it was made for I found another couple of challenges it might fit

Crazy 4 challenges                         - spring is in the air
Gingerloft challenge                      -  spring
I have no idea what make the stamp is, have had it for years and had forgotten all about it, found it while I was looking for something else. The flowers looked a bit flat although I had tried to shade them, doesn't show up much on here , so I added a bit of glitter to them and covered the vase with glossy accents.

For a child

Gone all cutesy wootsy with this card, love those fat little dimpled legs ! Stamp is a Penny Black cling, papers were free with a magazine, buttons, trim etc all from stash. I have done quite a bit of crafting this week but nothing I can post on here. Anyhow this is for Fashionable Stamping challenge which is Make It For A Child. This will go to one our great grandaughters, I left enough room in the bottom corner to add a name later, luckily all three of them have short names!

Pomp and pageantry

Had a play with some of my london stamps last night, seems everyone is going all patriotic this year for the Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics so thought I had better get some mileage out of my stamps while they are so "in" ! Collage stamped the background with a selection of Artistic Outpost and Indigo Blu stamps, then added the couple and the Lion from Indigo Blu's Pomp and Pageantry set.hand cut the triangles for the bunting which was a bit fiddly but I like the finished effect: putting on three  challenges

Simon says Stamp and show -  London/New York or Paris

vintage romance

Trying to remember where I got this lovely girl from. I think it was The Sum Of All Crafts? just lightly tinted her with chalks like a victorian tinted photo, few pretty papers, ribbon and pearls and two hearts.I am not very good at romantic stuff so don't go overboard with sentiment! The lace frame she is on is a doily stamp from Hero embossed in white on vellum and its so pretty ,keep forgettingI have it and then when I do use I love it all over again.Putting this on a few challenges

Wales

Here's my belated postcard from Wales. As my two charactors are musicians my first thought was that it seems like everyone in Wales can sing, they have such wonderful male voice choirs. The music background is actually the Welsh National Anthem, Land Of My Father(s) but I could not get a clear print of it, it is in the Welsh language too. Just added a few things that are particularly Welsh, the national flower, the Welsh dragon and the Welsh costume. Things are hotting up for Elsie and Edward but just remember this is back in the thirties when romances moved on a little slower !

ps: last weeks belated postcard is below

belated postcard challenge

I have not felt up to doing much creative since I had this cough/virus, its really knocked me for six and I still feel like I'm wading through treacle ! every time I think its getting better it wacks back again and as I already have breathing problems (emphesema, which I normally cope with quite well)  it does get me down . Anyhow last night I thought I would try and play catch up on the postcard challenge and although I'm too late to link this I thought I would try and keep the story going. Although I am not being specific about dates my story is set somewhere in between the two World Wars . When I saw the theme was Belgium I could not get the Flanders fields theme out of my head. We have visited Belgium and I was incredibly moved by the Menin gate memorial and the church in Ypres, so many lives lost.  I have hinted in my story that Edward was there during the war.  The background of my postcard was a satellite map of Belgium that I found on the internet as are most of the other bits. The poppies are a Penny Black stamp

Too cute !

Had a friend over yesterday who wanted to learn an inky technique, I usually do inky and she does "cute" however we swapped roles yesterday , she had made some lovely cards with digital stamps (another thing I very rarely use) but I was tempted to buy this owly couple, have some wedding anniversaries coming up soon and one person loves owls so this is for her and her husband -coochy coo !  I'm never quite sure which challenges "ban" digi's so hope I haven't entered any that do, sure they will remove it if I've erred !

In The Pink !

A very pink card for Fashionable stamping challenge , all pink with the exception of the brown bit at the top of the collage and the brown butterflies on the washi tape. Fits a few other challenges too I think

Fashionable stamping - monochromatic  plus one colour
Flutterby Wednesdays - wing
Crafty Cardmakers - monochrome magic

whats on my work desk ?

One of the reasons I don't get as much done as I should ! its quite difficult with this little tyke hanging on the end of my pencil/paintbrush etc or running away with anything not fastened down. Don't actually have a work desk, use the dining room table which is a pain as everything has to be put away. My burst of creativity last weekend didn't last long, can't get rid of this awful cough, feel like I have gone three rounds with a heavyweight boxer, my ribs and back hurt so much and not getting much sleep either, shouldn't be moaning, lots of people worse off than me !
