Paper piecing

Not often that there are cute cards on my blog as it's not my kind of stuff ,however this Polkadoodles stamp sort of fell into my shopping basket at the Harrogate show, think I just fell for her big boots!
Fashionable stamping challenge this week is Paper Piecing which is something I like doing and I thought this stamp just asked to be paper pieced. The background paper was free with a magazine and the flowers were also stamped on some of the free papers and cut out, stalks and leaves free cut from the same papers. The flower stamp is also a freebie from another magazine. I didn't put a sentiment on but this will probably be a birthday card for one of the great grand daughters.

Easter

Spent this afternoon making a few Easter cards, this is one of them, also had a card to make for daughter-in-laws birthday , need to get caught up with some swaps too, it must be an age thing as I'm finding it takes me so much longer to do stuff these days and I've decidedly lost the plot as far as inspiration goes!  I've got lots of new stuff from last weeks show at Harrogate but this card is using two older stamps, I was disappointed that Making Memories was not there this time as I always buy one of their Cover a page stamps, the one I've used here is my favourite one, coloured it with pan pastels, the daffoldil stamp is Stampendous and wording is computer generated.

P is for........

Photography

Lots of choices for the letter P, finally plumped for Photography, stamps are from Creative Impressions Vintage Photography apart from the lady in the frame who is from Acid Drops and Whatnots. Usual background of gesso, inks, stencils etc,few bits of Tim Holtz photo strip and a couple of word staples.
We got back from Shropshire just ahead of the snow thankfully, we have had a lot here overnight and this morning.  Our central heating decided to pack up last Saturday just before we went away and of course we couldn't get anyone to come out at the weekend so no heat and no hot water again! However we left the key with a neighbour and were very relieved to get home yesterday and find he had fixed it that morning. The house was freezing after having no heat on all week, poor cats must have been frozen, they both slept on our bed last night, not something they usually do!

Anniversary

Another quick card, this time for my brother's wedding anniversary next week, I feel like I'm wading through treacle trying to catch up with all the cards I have needed to make this week!  Going to the Harrogate show on Saturday(Yippee !) family Christening on Sunday and then we are away most of next week and March is one of the busiest time for me with birthdays etc, plus its Easter the week we come back so have been trying to get a few cards made for that but not doing very well on that score ,I'm afraid, I gave in and bought some yesterday but I still prefer to make my own if I can.I hope the background stamp is swirly enough to count for Fashionable stampings challenge . I do like the cover a card stamps as they  make lovely quick backgrounds. The butterflies are painted with Starburst stains and are lovely and shimmery which doesn't show on here..

Peacock butterflies

Well I've had a really inky time this afternoon and tonight and you should see the mess in here! I came across some Starburst stain inks that I've had for several years, I bought them as dabbers by mistake so they got shoved away in the cupboard, anyhow tonight I put some of them into mini misters and used them as sprays, they do have the most glorious shimmer to them!. The Peacock stamp is from a Kanban set and has never seen ink before although I have used the other stamps,it always looked like it would be too much bother to colour but I really like the effect on here, pity the shimmer doesn't show up on here.I made this card for Make my Monday challenge

Magnolia

Just got round to doing my dictionary page for the Craftbarn Challenge which this week is the letter M but only words beginning with Ma /Me. After my usual sitting studying the dictionary and getting so interested in various words I forget what I started looking for! I finally decided on Magnolia. As usual stuck my dictionary page to a piece of card and started spraying with dylusions but I had forgotten to gesso the page first and all the colours seemed to just soak in the paper and it looked a mess, had to dry it off, gesso it and start again, disaster as I tried to peel of the masking tape over the wording as it peeled the words off too, had to scan the definition from another dictionary and stick it on. The Magnolia stamp is from SeeDees Gothic Magnolia set and the vine is an old Penny Black stamp.

Bit grungy!

I had no idea what I was going to do when I started this piece, there were a few challenges I wanted to do but couldn't settle to what I was going to do.  Try In On Tuesday challenge is Time, I do have lots of time related stamps etc, Simon says stamp and show - use a stamp you love but hardly ever use, well I have a few of those! The winged clock is an old Stampers Anonymous one, its a wood stamp and has numbers flying round the clock but I cut them off, I can't remember who's make is the boys on bikes but it was one of the first unmounted stamps I bought and I did use it a lot at one time, found it while I was looking for the clock stamp, the background stamps are from an oldish See-D's set.It was only when it was finished I realised it also fitted Fashionable Stamping's colour challenge of Red/Black and Brown.

Two in One night?

Nothing for a week and then two in one night?  I bought this stamp last September at Port Sunlight and then was a bit miffed to find it as a free digital image on The Graphic Fairy, it doesn't stamp too well either so I might be tempted to use the digital version another time. Made this card for one of my Step Sons. Thought it would fit some challenges too

H is for..........

Haberdasher/haberdashery -  with my love of all things vintage sewing it was a no brainer to choose haberdashery for my letter H. Just my usual gessoed dictionary page , I used cosmic shimmer chalk mists and distress inks, some Indigo Blu/Inkilicious and Justrite stamps, my trusty bit of sequin waste,a button and some bits of lace and old tape measure. Think i had not stuck the masking tape down very well and the ink had seeped under it and almost obliterated the wording.

Third Post !

No pictures on this one, I just wanted to welcome my new followers to my blog, so happy to have you and I  hope you enjoy what you find on here.

While I'm on here, can anyone recommend a really good white pen? I have two and neither of them seem to want to work on painted/inky surfaces, I keep seeing people outlining leaves etc in white and love how it looks.

Bird Song

I don't seem to be able to resist bird stamps and have a whole load of them but this is my all time favourite one from Artistic Outpost Birds Of A Feather set, the little background stamp is from the same set. Putting this on

Getting Messy ?

Mr Mojo is still on his extended holiday, I'm beginning to wonder if he's ever coming back? For a long time I have resisted the art journalling that seems to be everywhere even though I love to see some of it but while my card making mojo has been away I have been trying to do the Craft barn dictionary challenge and have really enjoyed it so today I have had another play, you would not believe how long it had taken me to produce this ( its the fourth attempt!) There was a lot of stamping on here but when it dried it seems to have disappeared into the background. Anyhow thought I would enter it onto a couple of challenges

Life Is A Circus

Made this a few nights ago and didn't get round to blogging it, I was playing with some stamps I got for Christmas( The Circus ones) and also trying to use up some free papers.I love the Lindsay Mason girl, she will no doubt be appearing on numerous occasions! Looking for a suitable challenge I saw this one which asks us to use markers - I used pro markers to colour the girl

E is for........

I hadn't realised until I started searching my dictionary pages that there are not many nouns starting with E, last night I had been playing with Lindsay Mason Off the Wall stamps and they took me to the word Eccentric. As I usually seem to end up with pinks and purples I thought I'd try some brighter colours and got out the Dylusions (all 4 of them!) I'm still always shocked at how bright the colours are when I spray them as I'm not used to working with such vivid colours but I'm persevering with them! As usual, dictionary page covered with a gesso wash, sprayed, stamped and stencilled. The Eccentric stamp is from an Indigo Blu set which I bought just to get that one stamp
