Dressmakers emporium

This is a house box I bought back in September and its been lurking about in here ever since. I did start it before Christmas but had to abandon it to do Christmas stuff. I painted in with gesso and then pink acrylic paint then lined the shelves with some sewing themed papers, covered the edges with washi tape. Added bits of ric rac, lace and tape measure ribbon to the front edges and stuck buttons round the eaves. Most of the pieces on the shelves are from my old haberdashery collection. The dressmaker figure is a Kaisercraft stamp and the sign she is holding is a S'dees set
This is the top shelf, old cotton reels, large button, some old scissors and the metal thing that says blindfold is a needle threader !
On these shelves, a little bottle with tiny buttons in,thimbles, thread and part of  an old suspender
Here we have old needle packets, some old buttons and a reel with some ribbon
Bottom row has a pin cushion made from a bottletop, tapemeasure and spool with some fabric swatches and the last one is two little pots of sequins and some sequins on a card although they don't show up very well. Finally added the dressmaker and a pair of scissors to the front.  All the bits and pieces are just held in with blu tac so I can change them when I get bored with it ( or when it gets too dusty even for me !)

Spotlight On Our Creative Corner

I'm happy to be chosen to be in the spotlight at Our Creative Corner, pop over and take a look, they have some great challenges and a very friendly design team

My showcase piece is in my favourite style of vintage. Stampendous St Nick is stamped twice, one oval area cut out and mounted over the other stamped background, the die cut snowflakes are part of the frostyville oval wreath, I threw on some frantage shabby white e.p and mounted the piece on some background papers fromKaisercraft, added a piece of lace and chipboard numbers which have been triple embossed.

Using up the left overs !

A friend came for the day yesterday and we finished off Christmas cards and then started making tags with the left overs which has worked out well for Fashionable Stamping challenge this week which asks for die cuts. This tag has plenty, nestabilty bauble x 2, marianne holly x2, part of memory box winter village and part of frostyville border.Started with a piece of green paper and stamped justrite music on it,the word joy ,deck the halls and the red stamped bauble are all from justrite deck the halls stamp set

Santa Claus Is Coming To Town

I don't do a lot of cute stuff but Iwas rather taken with this Santa with his pointy boots and bulging sack. Its a Stampography stamp I got at Port Sunlight, along with a few more of theirs, they stamp very well and were very reasonably priced, something I like especially in Christmas stamps that won't get used that much, just a simple little card that I made a few of as I thought they would be nice for the great grandchildren. Entering it on

Cute snowman

Made this card a while ago after I fell for these Lyndsay Mason stamps at Port Sunlight show, I love this little snowman sitting on the log with the robin. I've never been very good at "making scene" stamps but these are very easy to use. I'm not entering this on any challenges, just wanted to post something to make sure my blog was working ok after I finally gave in and paid for more space, it was too much of a hassle resizing the pictures for the sake of less than £2 a month.

snowy postcard

I think just about everyone has got this stamp and I'm not surprised, last year I made a lot of cards with Stampendous Christmas Santa postcard and I've made a load with this one this year, they have had some fabulous Christmas stamps this year and I've gone a bit overboard with them ,have used most of them and they'll always come in for next year ! It's such a lovely stamp I don't think it needs much else with it so I've just embossed the top and bottom with a sizzix border folder and added a bit of distress ink and the bow on top. Entering on these challenges

Sparkle ?

Well you learn new stuff everyday when you get so frustrated with things !  I do have a very good photo editing programme but have no idea how to use it!  After advice from Netty to reduce my picture size I went on T'internet and found some instructions, back to photo editing and after some swearing and such finally found out how to reduce the pixels, now to all you clever people out there it is probably just dead simple but I feel quite pleased with myself!  Anyhow after all that here is my card for a couple of challenges

Fashionable Stamping - Home sweet home
Try It On Tuesday -  Christmas Sparkle

Found this stamp while looking for something else, stamped onto a spellbinders circle with spellbinders holly motif behind it. BG stamped with free snowflake stamped with versamark and coloured with pan pastels AND I finally used my shabby white frantage embossing powder, now it will be appearing on everything !

Help ?

I can't post any pictures on my blog, told my storage is full, I have deleted 12 months of posts and made no difference, told I can purchase more storage but I'm a bit iffy about setting up a payment plan with google ! has anyone else done this and does it work ok ? would appreciate any help

Oh Baubles !!!!!

Being of a stubborn and contrary disposition I do not like to be defeated by a rubber stamp but these baubles seem to defy me at every turn !  I got this stamp a few years ago after seeing someone demonstrating it at a show using black card and pearl ex paints, stunning cards!  when I got it home and played with I realised I did not want to make Christmas cards with black backgrounds and it seems whatever I do with this stamp it never really works for me. This time I stamped and embossed the baubles in gold, masked them off and stamped the Christmas text over them and then coloured them in with copics and lots of glitter and stickles. Background panel stamped with versamark and coloured with pan pastels. The twirly swag at the top is also embossed and copic coloured. I really don't understand why the baubles look pink on here as they are coloured with Ruby copic pen which is certainly not pink,. Embossed at the bottom with a sizzex border folder and the bits of holly are from a memory box die.  Anyhow after all that I'm entering in a few challenges:

Christmas card challenges - double embossing

Pan Pastels - Red and Green

Santa's sleigh

Been playing with the Memory box dies again, just love them and I want more !  On this card I've used winter village and frostyville border, the little stars are the bits out of the border stamp.Santa and sleigh are from Inkylicious and the moon and sky are coloured with pan pastels.  I thought I could enter this on a new challenge blog  - addicted to c.a.s , now this might not be c.a.s to some but it is for me ! I was going to matt and layer it but instead decided just to ink round the edges of the panel, I was itching to add something else but thought I would get it posted on here before I got carried away.
Just watched Simply Come Dancing, it gets better and better,  I don't want anyone to leave !

Thomas Kinkade

While I love the Thomas Kinkade stamps, I find them really hard to work with, no problem stamping the image but then what to do with it?  I almost gave up on this one but finally decided on a bit of lacy stuff to lighten it up a bit, I do love the frostyville border but what a faff to glue it on ( I just realised it would probably go through my mini xyron !)  The stamp is Cornish Heritage Stonehearth Hutch and I'm entering it on their challenge

Baubles

This is the die cut that broke my cuttlebug! Romantic rectangle (thats it's proper name, not what I called it at the time !)  Its obviously a faulty die as it wouldn't cut in my friends bug and it still won't cut in my new one , this is one of the few I managed to force through with extra shims until I bust the bug.  I really wanted to get a Bigshot but I just don't have anywhere to put one, I don't have a proper craftroom and everything has to be put away each night.  The ornament die is another nestabilities stamped with Justrite bauble stamps. The main stamp is Lily Of The Valley. Entering it on these challenges

memories

I thought I would try and get away from my usual pinks and lilacs that I always seem to go for in doing this kind of card but I'm not too sure I'm happy with the greens and browns. Whenever I pick up this stamp I think about my sisters, I think my younger sister bought me this stamp a long while ago, but this card is really about my older sister who got married and went to live in California when I was 19 years old, I never stopped missing her. In the early years we kept in touch by letter and she was so good at writing to all the family, later when the phone calls became a little less expensive we managed a few calls, then of course we got the internet and could write every day if we wanted to.She did visit home regularly until her husband became ill and the visits were harder to arrange and we did manage a few trips over there.  She is no longer with us and I still miss her every day. Although I covered most of it up one paper has postcards and postage stamps etc on it and the script one is to represent a letter. She was a happy, bubbly person and this is about my happy memories of her.

Live Life

I thought I was going to actually do two posts in one day, something I haven't done for ages but looking at the clock its going to be into Monday a.m by the time I get it done. This is just a collage type card, something I do enjoy doing although I usually have some stamping on them somewhere but not on this one. I don't know where the image came from, I am trying to be better at keeping a note of where they are from but don't always remember to do it, the papers are all Graphic 45 and the wording is a Kaisercraft stamp.
