Just wondering if anyone is going to Stamparama in Harrogate this coming Saturday?

Merry Moose

I fell for this Merry Moose Die set as soon as it started to appear on various blogs etc but I made myself wait until after Christmas to order it as I had made myself a promise not to buy any new Christmas stuff for that year . Once it got to January several items I had been lusting after just fell into my shopping baskets.  I think next time I might add his collar and bell to smarten him up a bit but he makes me smile every time I look at him!  I'm entering this into Maureen's Rudolph Challenge the first of this year.

Powder your ....

 New challenge at Try It On Tuesday and today it is " Powder your.... "  use any kind of powder on your entry, embossing powders, mica powders, Brusho powders etc, please tell us what you have used. For my card I have used Brusho powders to create the background, I stamped the inkylicious poppies with black ink on the red areas of the background and embossed them with clear embossing powder, I added extra colour to the flowers with watercolour paint and added the little butterflies. The sentiment was bought from Stamp Camp when they used to come to Port Sunlight ,hence the American spelling of colour, a bit irritating but I do like the wording.

For my card I have used  Penny Black Good Neighbours stamp, coloured with pro markers. A Hero Arts butterfly and an inked embossing folder for the background.

 

Hunkydory

A couple of weeks ago I was asked if I would like to do a review of some Hunkydory products, this was quite out of the blue as it's not my usual type of crafting. However I have thoroughly enjoyed using these products and have created quite a stash of cards for my charity box.  I did choose to use masculine products and chose Gentleman's Journey set and the matching inserts.  This is an extremely large pack of toppers, matching backing card , two different types of interactive cards,box envelopes for the three dimensional cards and even the brads for the spinner cards and all very high quality.

This is the globe spinner card which was really easy to make (and usually I struggle with this type of project)  It was harder to get a decent photo than to make it !

I also made twelve  ordinary cards in one sitting, the only things I had to add were the base card and glue, I did add  coloured card mats to a couple of them but could have made them without.

I haven't used even half of the kit and they are all for different sports/pastimes  so don't have to duplicate anything.  I also got the matching insert set but haven't got round to them yet. They are A4 size so big enough for any size card. 

I also received a complimentary copy of their magazine which contained three sheets of toppers and five A4 pieces of  background card, plus some stamps(butterflies, hearts and sentiments) and two dies.There are lots of ideas and projects in the 100 page magazine. One snippet I was happy to see is that Hunkydory are creating a glitter that is plastic free and it will be available sometime this year. After I found out that glitter is made of plastic I have felt guilty about using it. These as just a few of the cards I have made with the kit, more for my charity box.I thought the magazine certainly gave value for money.

We have had a family wedding and some significant birthdays over the last ten days so my blog has been sadly neglected but hopefully back to normal soon.

Just a note

The latest Creative Stamping magazine (issue 67) has a fabulous set of Crafty Individual stamps with it.  Apart from the two large collage stamps there are loads of little stamps too.  I have inked my piece of card with Iced Spruce Oxide ink and randomly stamped the ink blotches, script and crackle stamp all over it ( I'm in love with the little crackle stamp!) stamped the ink pot and quill pen and the happy birthday and finally added the typewriter collage piece.  I'd like to enter these challenges

Romance

It's time for another challenge at Try It On Tuesday and this time it is Romance. Could be a Valentine or anniversary or wedding.  I have gone for an Art journal page again . Started out spraying the page with glimmer mist which was supposed to be pink but was quite a bright red. Added some torn pieces of paper , then a torn piece of serviette with red roses and the Eiffel tower ,found the image in a folder of bits and pieces and cut round the heart shape, stamped onto a piece of tissue paper for the other side of the page and cut out, coloured and added the flowers and butterflies and the two hearts.

I have had the stamp for a while as it was an impulse die at a show and when I got home and translated the words I didn't know where I would use it. It reads "when I close my eyes I dream of you. Always I dream, always I love you"  The design teams have some fabulous pieces to show you so hope you will visit and enter the challenge.

All Things Bright and Beautiful

All things bright and beautiful is the new challenge at Stamping Sensations. We are sponsored this month by Bee Crafty . For my card I have used Bee Crafty bird on a branch, masked the bird and stamped the cherry blossom behind it, back ground stamped with feathers and lightly inked, and added the two butterflies.  We are a stamping challenge so do make sure your entry has stamping as the focal point.  

A poinsettia

Time for a new challenge at Sparkles Christmas and this month it's Angela's choice of a poinsettia.

For my card I have been using up various bits and pieces, the background paper is some copy paper crumpled up and sprayed with blue and gold , made it ages ago so can't remember what I used. The blue square is a stitched die, when I am making cards with lots of layers I "gut" the lower layers to keep the weight down and also saving card, have quite a stash of these squares in various colours from my Christmas card making last year.The snowflake circle was already cut out and in my die cut box and the poinsettia was left over from previous cards. It's only a 5x5 card, not often I make little cards but as I still have more of the supplies ready to hand I think I'll make some more while I'm in the mood!  Look forward to seeing your poinsettia cards on our challenge.

The Skaters

I came across this old stamp yesterday and thought I'd have a little play with it.  I used to love Stamps Happen stamps and do have quite a few tucked away. I coloured it with water colour paints and then just added lots of glitter. It's quite a big stamp and almost filled this 6x6 card so didn't feel it needed much adding. I'd like to enter into ABC Christmas challenge which is Anything Goes Or Berries.

There are berries on both the holly and the mistletoe too. 

My blog is a bit neglected at the moment as I seem to be busy with other stuff but hopefully back to posting more frequently soon.

Didn't enter the challenge as I couldn't see how to enter without giving information that I didn't want to give !

Trains/Planes/ Automobiles

We've got a lot of male birthdays coming up in the next two months so I should be concentrating on them but can't seem to get myself out of Christmas card mode, already made two batches of six cards and a few single ones, as I had made more than I needed for Christmas just gone I need to stop now!

I usually enjoy making men's cards but mojo isn't working too well right now.  This is a really CAS card for me and I still don't know if I should have added the die cuts but it looked so bare without them! It can go in the birthday box anyhow.Couple of challenges I'd like to enter

Happy Birthday

It was one of our great grandsons second birthday last week and this is the card I made for him. I've used a very old Penny Black stamp called balloon hedgehog.coloured with pro markers and papers from my scrap box.   I'd like to enter this card into Allsorts challenge which is Milestones with numbers.
